Planning and Development Control
Planning control starts with Planning Law and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). Development is also driven by a set of Planning Policy Guidelines. Refer to www.gov.uk/planning
For most construction and development, the Local Planning Authority is Northumberland County Council. Refer to www.northumberland.gov.uk/Planning.aspx
For minerals, waste, and schools, the Local Planning Authority remains Northumberland County Council, as it is a unitary authority.
Eglingham Parish Council is a statutory consultee on most planning applications within the parish. Some applications, such as those for Certificates of Lawful Development (where decisions are based on matters of fact in law), do not require consultation with the parish council. You can view planning applications relevant to Eglingham on Northumberland County Council’s planning portal here. The Parish Council also lists them here
Eglingham Parish Council considers planning applications either at scheduled parish council meetings or, if timing requires, through special meetings arranged to meet consultation deadlines.
